Diana Robinson

Pocohontas

Diana Robinson’s interest in photography developed after realizing that if she always made sure that she was the one behind the lens, she would have a much easier time avoiding the usually excruciating process of posing for photos on family vacations. Along the way, she realized that, in addition to saving her the mortification of seeing her face on film, photography was a great way to simultaneously create art and preserve memories.

After spending countless hours with her face pressed up to a viewfinder and countless more hidden away in a darkroom, Diana developed a distinctive and quirky style that plays with color, texture and light to create stunning portraits in the least traditional senses of the word.

Fans of her work can catch her this October as she puts on her third Cygnet Studios gallery show. This year’s title is “Oh, Mannequin!” and personifies objects of plaster and plastic.
